The Atebubu Traditional Council, in collaboration with the Atebubu Stool Land Secretariat (ASLS), has officially commissioned the newly completed ATSEC Model School Building, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of educational infrastructure within the Atebubu Traditional Area.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the ATSEC Campus in Atebubu, brought together government officials, traditional leaders, education authorities, security agencies, religious leaders, members of the media, and community stakeholders to celebrate the successful completion of the project.
The facility was funded by the Atebubu Stool Land Secretariat (ASLS) under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, Atebubumanhene and President of the Atebubu Traditional Council, as part of a broader commitment to advancing education and human capital development in Atebubuman.
The distinctive “E” shape of the building was deliberate and symbolic. It represents the third pillar of the Atebubu Seven Pillars Development Framework, namely Education, Entrepreneurship, and Human Capital Development, underscoring the Paramount Chief’s commitment to investing in the knowledge, skills, and future productivity of the people of Atebubuman.
Modern Educational Infrastructure for Future Generations
The newly commissioned facility comprises:
• Fifteen (15) Classrooms
• One (1) ICT Centre
• One (1) Staff Common Room
• One (1) Store Room
• One (1) Headmaster’s Office
• One (1) Assistant Headmaster’s Office
The project was specifically designed to provide a modern and conducive learning environment for kindergarten and primary school pupils while improving teaching and administrative conditions for staff.
Delivering the project brief, the General Manager of ASLS, Mr. Michael Osei, indicated that the project was completed through effective planning, supervision, and collaboration among contractors, artisans, suppliers, transport operators, and community stakeholders.
A Project Completed in Record Time
Delivering his commissioning address, HRM Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah described the project as a testament to what can be achieved when vision, determination, commitment, and teamwork come together. The Paramount Chief noted that the project was completed in approximately 102 days, demonstrating the capacity of Atebubuman to execute major development projects within record time.
“Education remains one of the most important pillars of my vision for the development of Atebubuman. Roads, markets, water systems, and other infrastructure are very important, but all these investments must be built on the solid foundation of investing in the minds of our children,” Ohempon stated.
Stakeholders Praise Ohempon’s Educational Vision
In his welcome address, the Headmaster of ATSEC Senior High School described the commissioning as an unforgettable day in the history of the school community. He noted that for years, pupils and teachers had struggled with inadequate classroom space and limited access to digital learning facilities, challenges that the new project directly addresses. He further described the facility as “more than just a building,” calling it a statement of hope, a catalyst for innovation, and a foundation for educational excellence.
The Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Thomas Masud Musah Ayaaba, commended Ohempon and the Atebubu Traditional Council for their leadership and commitment to development. He observed that the commissioning validates the Atebubumanhene’s long-term development vision and pledged that the Municipal Assembly would work to provide furniture for the school and facilitate its connection to the national electricity grid to support effective teaching and learning.
Speaking on behalf of the GETFund Administrator, Mr. Paul Adjei, Mr. Raphael Kofi Gapson described the facility as a powerful example of what can be achieved when traditional leadership aligns with national development objectives. He praised Ohempon as a true partner in national development and indicated that GETFund would assess the facility and support it with the logistics and learning resources needed to give it the “touch of class” expected of a model school.
The Bono East Regional Director of Education, Rev. Kingsley Dwamena Asante, urged teachers and all stakeholders to take collective responsibility for maintaining the facility. He emphasized that quality education depends not only on modern infrastructure but also on the professionalism, dedication, and commitment of educators.
The Municipal Police Commander, ASP Adu-Sei Poku, also called on the community to protect and maintain the facility, stressing that stakeholders must work together to harness the full benefits of the investment for future generations.
Also speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Atebubu Zongohene, Alhaji Dufailu Osman Moro, urged residents and the general public to disregard claims that land prices in Atebubu are excessively high. He emphasized that, compared to previous years, land in the area remains reasonably priced and continues to offer excellent value for residential, commercial, and agricultural investment.
Alhaji Dufailu further commended Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah for his visionary leadership and tireless efforts in driving the development of Atebubuman. He noted that projects such as the ATSEC Model School Building demonstrate the Paramount Chief’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people and advancing the development agenda of the traditional area. He encouraged Ohempon to sustain this good work for the benefit of both the present generation and generations yet unborn.
Appreciation to Donors and Supporters
The Atebubumanhene expressed profound gratitude to the many individuals and organizations whose voluntary contributions helped make the project a reality.
Special recognition was given to Mr. Joseph Apua (USA), Diaspora Queen Foundation (Royal Ladies), Ladies’ Pub, RJ Content, Mr. Enoch Asante, Mr. Amoakohene Antwi-Boasiako (Taller, France), and Consecutive Hairdressers Association for their donations of cement towards the construction of the facility. The Paramount Chief also acknowledged the support of Mr. Asante Mohammed Moro (Oluman of ASLS), Hon. Kuuza and Brother, suppliers, contractors, business partners, and others who provided materials, services, and credit facilities during the implementation of the project.
Nearly GH¢2 Million Invested in Education
HRM Ohempon disclosed that close to GH¢2 million has been invested in the project, with a few ancillary works still remaining to be completed. He emphasized that the facility belongs to the people of Atebubuman and represents a collective investment in the future of children. He therefore urged students, teachers, school authorities, and the Ghana Education Service to ensure proper maintenance and utilization of the facility.
Investing in Human Capital Development
The commissioning of the ATSEC Model School Building forms part of a wider development agenda aimed at strengthening educational outcomes, improving infrastructure, and creating opportunities for future generations. Following the commissioning, the facility was officially handed over to the Ghana Education Service in Atebubu.
Ohempon reaffirmed the commitment of the Atebubu Paramount Stool to partnering with communities, development institutions, government agencies, and stakeholders to continue investing in projects that improve lives and create lasting opportunities for future generations.
As Atebubuman continues its transformation journey, the ATSEC Model School Building stands as a lasting symbol of visionary leadership, community partnership, and the collective determination to build a brighter future through education.
