Biographical Profile

Nana Afua Donyina II, known in private life as Ms. Cecilia Kwaah, hails from the royal Asona Kyeremem family of Atebubu. She succeeded her late mother, Nana Adwoa Tuah, and was enstooled as Paramount Queenmother of the Atebubu Traditional Area on 22 October 2001. She has served faithfully for more than twenty-four years and occupies a distinguished place as the seventh Queenmother in the lineage of Atebubumanhemaa.

Nana is blessed with seven children and twenty-two grandchildren, and she continues to be celebrated as a mother figure whose wise counsel influences families, youth, and women across the traditional area.

 

She is widely respected for her courageous leadership, firmness in decision-making, and her unwavering commitment to safeguarding the customs, rites, and cultural dignity of the Atebubu Traditional Area. Nana Hemaa is noted for her strong voice on discipline, respect, peaceful coexistence, and proper conduct—values she consistently instills in both adults and the younger generation.

 

As a former prominent trader, she maintains close bonds with market women, encouraging diligence, honesty, and unity within the marketplace. Her efforts have strengthened the relationship between palace leadership and the women who sustain the local trading economy.
