Educational Infrastructure Needs in Atebubu

Ohempon explained that Atebubu serves as an important educational hub for several surrounding communities, yet existing infrastructure has not kept pace with the growing demand for quality education. He emphasized that leadership must begin with action, noting that the Atebubu Traditional Council has already initiated the ATSEC Model School relocation project, including the production of approximately 15,000 building blocks to support the construction of a new classroom facility. The Paramount Chief highlighted several priority projects requiring urgent support:

• Construction of a new Municipal Education Directorate Office Complex in Atebubu
• Construction of a bungalow for the Municipal Director of Education
• Construction of a new Owusu Asare Basic School building
• Support for the ATSEC Model Basic School relocation and classroom project
• GETFund scholarship opportunities for students from the Atebubu Traditional Area

Ohempon noted that the current Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Education Directorate building, constructed around 1956, has not undergone any major renovation and no longer provides a suitable working environment for education administrators. He also drew attention to the deteriorating state of the Owusu Asare Basic School, describing the structure as inadequate for a school located at the heart of Atebubu and one that bears the name of the revered founder of the town.

Community Commitment to Educational Development

The Paramount Chief further informed the GETFund Administrator that the Atebubu Traditional Council has established the Atebubuman Education Secretariat, which focuses on scholarship support for students, recognition of hardworking teachers, educational advocacy, capacity building, and strategic partnerships to improve educational outcomes within the traditional area.
