Biographical Profile
Nana Abena Owusua, is known in private life as Abena Owusua. She hails from the Aduana clan and serves as the Akyeamehemaa of the Atebubu Traditional Area. She is the daughter of the late Opanin Kofi Gyan of Boanyo and the late Maame Abena Abrafi of Kokofu, both of the Atebubu Traditional Area. Nana received her education up to the Middle School Leaving Certificate level. She married but is now widowed, and is blessed with six children. From her youthful days, Nana distinguished herself as a hardworking woman.
She began trading in clothing and household goods and later diversified into yam trading. Over the years she transitioned into full-time farming, cultivating food crops while establishing herself as a leading pig farmer in the district.
Her commitment to agriculture was publicly recognized on 4 November 2016, when she was awarded District Best Pig Farmer at the National Farmers’ Day celebration held in Sanwakyi Afrefreso in the Bono East Region.
In the sphere of traditional leadership, Nana has demonstrated a strong willingness to embrace knowledge and enhance her leadership influence. She participated in an international leadership seminar on Gospel and Culture on 9 June 2016, an initiative designed to strengthen the leadership capacity of Queenmothers and traditional authorities.
Nana Abena Owusua is admired for her gentle but firm leadership style. She is known for her tolerance, respectful disposition and integrity, making her a respected figure among Nananom, her community and beyond. Her life reflects diligence, resilience and service, combining farming, trading and traditional duty with exceptional dedication.
